Through the support of library enthusiasts throughout Greater Louisville, the Friends is able to make the community aware of the many, diverse programs and opportunities that the library provides.

As many of you know, it is a great time to be involved with the library because of its exciting plans for growth.  This positive movement is at the heart of the Friends’ mission, and the Board of Directors applauds this effort to meet the community’s increasing needs for free public library service.

You can enjoy a number of exciting activities through a membership in the Friends. We hold semi-annual book sales that are very popular, and they provide a great opportunity to take home books at more than reasonable prices.  From sale proceeds, we sponsor many important initiatives throughout the library system. The Friends of the Library is comprised of citizens from our community who, like you and me, share the desire to promote and grow the library.  I encourage you to join our group, if you are not a member already. Simply click on the “Join Friends” button on our main Web page to start the process.

It is only through participation at the community level that we can assist with the creation a library system that meets the needs of the country’s 16th largest city.
